TAUNTON - Rosa “Ferreira” (Moreira) Paiva, wife of Antonio B. Paiva of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on Dec. 8, 2011.
She was 81.
Born in Santa Borbara, Santa Maria, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Jacinta (Figueiredo) Moreira.
Mrs. Paiva moved to the Taunton area from the Azores in 1978, and worked for Dyecraftsmen, Inc. for many years until retiring in 1986.
A homemaker, she loved taking care of her home, her garden and her flowers.
She lived for her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church, she was a faithful member of Our Lady of Mount Carmo Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary for over sixty years.
Besides her husband of Taunton, she leaves a son, Jose M. and his wife Susy Paiva of Taunton; six daughters, Maria and her husband George Chaves, Connie and her husband Jimmy Lukasewski, Natalia and her husband Antonio Cabral, Adelina and her husband Jose Figueira, and Lidia and her husband Antonio Braga, all of Taunton, and Lucia and her husband George Silveira of Berkley; two brothers, Antonio Moreira of St. Michael, Azores, and John Moreira of Cambridge, Canada; two sisters, Ermelinda Freitas and Ana Moreira both of Santa Maria, Azores; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
She was also the sister of the late Jose, Manuel, Conceicao, Maria, and Emilia Moreira.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, Dec. 12th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Dec. 11th from 4 to 7 p.m.
