Abington – Anthony “Tony” Guerra of Abington, originally from Somerville and Revere, on December 6, 2011 at the age of 67. He was called too soon to heaven, despite his courageous efforts to stay with his family on earth.
Much beloved husband and faithful companion of Teresita “Tita”, and father extraordinaire of Maria of Melrose and Salvatore of Hopkinton, proud father-in-law of Sal’s wife Elizabeth, and grandfather to their sons – his joy – Alex and Thomas. The cherished brother of Stephen Guerra and his wife Mary of Falmouth and Geraldine Nashawaty and her husband Joe of Melrose; and one-of-a-kind “Uncle Butch” to his nieces, nephews and extended family, also loved by grand dogs Farley and Sam.
Tony was a devout member of St. Bridget Parish, and an avid golfer who enjoyed his league with the guys at Norwood CC and rounds (and poker) with the guys at Pembroke CC; he was also a long-time employee of State Street Bank, a caring neighbor, and a loyal friend – and made many, many people laugh along the way.
He will be missed more than words can describe.
His services will be held Monday December 12 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rt. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9 AM in St. Bridget Church, Abington. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland. Visiting hours will be held Sunday December 11 from 2 – 6 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to St. Bridget Church, 455 Plymouth Street, Abington, MA 02351.
