Mr. Roger Crenshaw, 64, longtime resident of Fitzgerald, presently a resident of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011 at the Acosta Rua Center for Caring in Jacksonville, FL.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 17 at the Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Keith Goodlett and the Rev. B.J. Funk officiating.
Born in Wilcox County, he was one of nine children born to Clara Mae Youngblood Crenshaw and the late William Howell Crenshaw. He worked as a Diesel Mechanics Instructor at Ben Hill-Irwin Technical School. During his thirty-one years of teaching, he saw the original school become known as East Central Technical College. Mr. Crenshaw taught small engine repair and in conjunction with Toyota backing, wrote the curriculum and implemented the first fork lift repair and safety course for the area. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church where he has served as Class President of the Covenant Sunday School Class. Mr. Crenshaw was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a former member of the Fitzgerald Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife of forty years, Sue R. Crenshaw, their children, Roger Clayton (Melanie) Crenshaw, Kenzie Suzanne Crenshaw and Craig Howell Crenshaw, all of Fitzgerald; a granddaughter, Kadence Crenshaw; his mother, Clara Mae Crenshaw of Wilcox County; brothers, Norman Crenshaw of Rochelle and Sam Crenshaw of Cordele; sisters, Shirley Gray of Albany, Elaine Strickland of Rochelle, Anita Wright and Minnie Bailey, both of Cordele, Patty White of Atlanta and Gina Moore of Cordele as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
