NATICK: Dorothy M. (Gilleran) Hubbard passed away on Monday, December 5 at the Mary Ann Morse Nursing Home in Natick.
Mrs. Hubbard was the wife of the late Roswell E. Hubbard Jr. who died in February 2009.
Mrs. Hubbard was born and raised in Natick, the daughter of the late Martin L. Gilleran and Alice (Barnicle) Gilleran and was predeceased by her brother Robert and her sister Mary.
She was a proud graduate of Natick High School’s Class of 1942, and served as a varsity cheerleader and as co-editor of the Natick High newspaper, the Sassamon. During World War II Mrs. Hubbard worked for the U.S. Army at the Cushing Army Hospital in Framingham, and counted her Cushing colleagues among her strongest lifetime friends. She later worked at the Murphy Army Hospital in Waltham before marrying her husband in 1952. Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard lived for over 50 years in Wayland where she was a devout communicant and longtime choir member at St. Ann’s Church and a longtime member of the Wayland Women’s Club.
She leaves her children and their spouses, Thomas and Christine Hubbard of Natick, Catherine and Lawrence Griffin of Hamilton (MA), R. Brian and Moira Hubbard of Sudbury, and Ellen and John Hart of Cumberland (Maine). She also leaves ten grandsons, Ned and James Hubbard, David and Robby Griffin, Nate, A.J. and Devin Hubbard, and Kevin, Brian and Ted Hart. She also leaves her niece Marianne Gilleran Carter and her husband Joseph, and their children Hillary, Erin and Russell of Winchester.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2011 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 10:00 am at Parish of the Good Shepherd at St. Ann’s Church, 124 Cochituate Rd (Rte 27), Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Hubbard family lot in North Cemetery in Wayland.
