Obituary

Joseph A. Balukas, a resident of Milton and formerly of Newton, died on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at The Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canton following a lengthy illness. He was 81 years old.

Joseph was born in Wakefield on December 6, 1929 to the late Joseph A. and Malvina (Medwesky) Balukas. He grew up in Newton where he attended the Newton Public School system and graduated from Newton High School. Joe enlisted into the United States Army on April 26, 1946 and served his country proudly and honorably during World War II. He was discharged on May 20, 1947 with the rank of Private First Class. Joe worked for over 20 years as a mechanic for the Town of Dover and was a call firefighter for many years with the Town of Dover.

Joseph is the beloved husband of the late Rose A. (Dalia) Balukas. He is the devoted father of Barbara Mason and her husband Robert of Milton. He is the loving Grandfather of Christine Mason, Tracy Mason, Kimberly Mason and Robert A. Mason and his numerous great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of Mary Burbine of Wakefield.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joseph's graveside service on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Forest Glade Cemetery, 470 Lowell St. Wakefield.
