Mr. Richard F. Hooben, of Tewksbury and formerly of Taunton, died Tuesday, December 6 in the Lahey Clinic, Burlington, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan M. (Hall) Hooben. He was born 76 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Martin A. and Antoinette (Dechene) Hooben. He was educated in Taunton and had been a city resident for most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as an Administrator and Purchasing Agent for the Mass. Division of Unemployment for several years. He was also employed at the Raynham Greyhound Park for the years following his retirement. Richard was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the early Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 12252 of the former St. Paul’s Parish, and was also a member of the Southeastern Mass. Association of Purchasing Agents. He enjoyed fishing, participating in parish activities at St. Paul’s and the Knights of Columbus, was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan, his membership at Sarah’s Place in Haverhill, and he cherished his family and friends. He was a communicant of the former St. Paul’s Parish in Taunton.
He leaves: 1 daughter: Jodi Ouimette and her husband, James of Tewksbury; 2 brothers: Leo Hooben of Berkley, and Norman Hooben of Alabama; 1 sister: Irene Boivin of Taunton; 3 grandchildren: William MacKenzie, Erin MacKenzie, and Marguerite Ouimette; 1 great granddaughter: Paige MacKenzie, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Paul Hooben and Marie Bonome.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Saturday, December 10 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Kilmer Avenue, at 10:00 A.M. Interment with Military Honors will be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Easton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
