TAUNTON - Marion D. (Derby) Day of Taunton, wife of the late Ralph B. Day, died at Brockton Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Dec. 3, 2011.
She was 81.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late George and Adeline D. (Cummings) Derby.
A 1948 graduate of Somerville High School, Mrs. Day was employed by King Size in Brockton for a number of years.
She moved to the Taunton area in 1972 after having lived in Brockton for some years.
Marion will be especially remembered for her love of conversation, whether
you were a friend or a stranger.
She was most proud of her children, which were her greatest joy.
Mrs. Day enjoyed living in her Taunton neighborhood, and was often heard commenting on how fortunate she was to be blessed with wonderful and very special neighbors.
She will be sadly missed.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy A. Duval and her husband John of Whitman, MA; a son Robert J. Day and his wife Richele of Sanford, FL; a brother, Richard Derby and his wife Blenda of Nova Scotia, Canada; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Robert Geary.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, Dec. 8th at 11 a.m. followed by burial at the MA National V.A. Cemetery in Bourne at 12:45 p.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 7th from 4 to 7 p.m.
