Ann J. Smits, 69, of Franklin died December 4 in her home following a long illness. She was the wife of Indulis “Andy” Smits for the past 50 years.
Born in Boston, May 11, 1942, the daughter of the late William and Helena (Heron) Seale, Mrs. Smits had lived in Franklin since 1963.
Mrs. Smits had been a local leader in the Franklin area in Fitness and Nutrition.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Daniel and Peter Smits of Franklin and David Smits of Medford. She was the mother of the late Paul Smits.
She is also survived by her sisters, Louise Williams of Wenham, Lillian Farnsworth of Franklin and Helena McQuade of Kittery, Maine.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Andrew and Eric Smits of Memphis, TN and Gunnar and Aria Smits of Franklin her great-grandson Andrew Gage of Memphis TN.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 8 in the Franklin Federated Church, 171 Main St. in Franklin at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Charity of One’s Choice.
