William Leo “Billy” Melvin age 69 of Salem, NH, died Thursday at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, MA.
He was born in Malden, MA, grew up and was educated in Wilmington, MA. He was a long time resident of Salem, NH, formerly of North Andover, MA, and Derry, NH.
Mr. Melvin co-owned with his brothers operated the Wilmington Taxi Company. He also worked at the Derry Flea Market for many years and was well known for greeting people at the entrance. He was an active member of Granite United Church in Salem, NH. He enjoyed antique cars and displaying his 1967 Ford Fairlane at local car shows. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his friends and family.
He was the son of the late Frederick Sr. and Mary (Otis) Melvin of Wilmington, MA.

Former Wife & Best Friend Catherine (Harrison) Arsenault of Salem, NH
He leaves his brothers, Bertram “Buddy” Melvin of California, Frederick “Sonny” Melvin Jr. of NH, Frank Melvin of Maine, John Melvin of NH, and his sister Ruth Gravell of FL, & Barbara Burris of NH . He was also predeceased by his brother Edward Melvin.
He is survived by 8 loving Grandchildren: Amanda, Frederick, Alisha, Brandon, Briana, Chayla, Alyvia, & JJ. Many Nieces and Nephews.
Calling hours will be Monday, Dec. 5th from 4-8 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
Funeral services will be celebrated Tues, Dec. 6 at 10:30 AM at Granite United Church, Sand Hill Rd, Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.
