Obituary

TAUNTON – Herbert S. Basso, husband of Cecilia (Silvia) Basso of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on Nov. 30, 2011.
He was 77.
Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Mary (Carrier) Basso.
He had been a Taunton resident since 1964.
Educated in Providence schools, Mr. Basso served in both the US Marines and US Army during the Korean Conflict, and was stationed in France.
A printer by trade, he was employed by the former Jay Printing in Warwick for over twenty-one years, and was a member of the Liberty Christian Church of Taunton.
After retiring he worked at Trucchi's as a bagger.
A New York Yankees fan, Mr. Basso will be remembered as a “people person”, always willing to engage in conversation.
He was a musician, playing the harmonica and singing in several area churches.
Besides his wife, he leaves four brothers, six sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at the Liberty Christian Church, 159 Winthrop St. Taunton on Monday, Dec. 5th at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Sunday, Dec. 4th, from 3 to 6 p.m.
