Charlene Brochu , 79, of Derry, NH, died Tuesday, November 29, 2011, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 14, 1932 in Lawrence, MA, a daughter of the late Jean Pierre and Rena (Carrier) Poirier. Mrs. Brochu loved the beach and spending time at Big Island Pond in Derry. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafting. She never met a cryptogram puzzle she could not solve. Charlene's greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Michelle Baker and her husband Todd of Derry, one son, Erik Brochu and his wife Natalie of Derry, seven grandchildren, Renee, Alexander, Andrew, Daniel, Keira, Trey and Collin; one great grandson, Travis, one brother, Richard Poirier of Salem, NH, two sisters, Doris Pelletier of Springfield, MA, and Lorraine Kerr of Oroville, CA, also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years Roland L. Brochu on September 23, 2010.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday December 6th at 10:00 in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
