Helena C. (Chaves) Chaves, wife of the late Antonio A. Chaves, died at her Taunton home on Nov. 29, 2011.
She was 82.
Born in Santa Maria, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria E. (Costa) Braga Chaves.
Mrs. Chaves worked as a seamstress for many years before retiring at the age of 64.
Residing in Winnipeg Canada and Hudson, MA, she moved to Taunton in 1997.
Mrs. Chaves was a communicant of St. Anthony Church in Taunton.
Survivors include a son, Jose A. Chaves of Hudson; a daughter, Zenalia C. Cabral of Taunton; a brother, Jose Costa of Ontario Canada; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Joao Costa Chaves, Maria Monteiro, Filomena Carvalho, Conceicao Monteiro, and Lurdes Travis.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, Dec. 3rd at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery in Hudson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 2nd from 5 to 8 p.m.
