
Helen E. Peloquin, 86

Helen Elizabeth (Mackie) Peloquin, 86, of Mansfield, died peacefully on Sunday November 27, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife, best friend and partner of Leo E. Peloquin for 58 years.
Born in Roxbury, MA on September 25, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Annie (Arsenault) Mackie, who were born in Prince Edward Island, Canada and made their home in Holbrook, MA, where Helen was raised. She loved the summer as a young girl in PEI and remained close to her extended family with particular fondness for down east fiddle music, blueberry picking, family and social gatherings.
Helen graduated from Burdett Secretarial School and used her business and organizational skills to manage an active household of six children and later as an employee of Wheaton College.
She was the loving mother of Susan Peloquin of Providence, Lynne Peloquin of Plainville, Leo J. Peloquin and his wife Maureen of Hingham, James Peloquin, of Mansfield, Carol Peloquin Oakes and her husband David of Reading, and Christine Peloquin and her wife Rachel Shea of California. In addition, she was a devoted Mémére to Ryan Peloquin, Beth and Thomas O’Hanley all of Hingham, Benjamin and Harrison Oakes, of Reading, Cameron and Jordan Peloquin, of Mansfield, Nicholas and Aurora Baraiolo of Plainville, Emma Peloquin, of Providence and Mackie and Desmond Shea-Peloquin, of California.
Helen’s devoted siblings are Wilfred J Mackie of Florida, James Mackie of California, Marie Dickinson of Franklin and the late Wade Mackie of Holbrook. She was the devoted sister in law of Adele Peloquin of West Roxbury, and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and lifelong friendships.
Helen loved people and a good laugh. She enjoyed many social and family activities, was a skilled seamstress and quilter, loved music, and could never resist a good jitterbug. Helen leaves a legacy of devotion, warmth, love and family.
Helen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Women’s Club in Mansfield and the Mansfield Social Club. She graciously donated baked and personal items to many charitable events.
Her Funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday December 2nd at 9:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday December 1st from 4-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
