TEWKSBURY - Ruth A. (Ham) Gibbs, age 82, died suddenly Sunday, November 27 at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell. She was the beloved wife of Claud Gibbs with whom she celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary last January.
Ruth was born in Springfield, Maine, March 30, 1929 a daughter of Austin and Gertrude (Orr) Ham. She moved to Tewksbury in 1965 to raise her family. She was retired from Wang Laboratories where she worked as a group leader in cable assembly. In her later years, she worked at Tewksbury Market Basket. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross, and at the Tewksbury election polls. Her church and all the members of the Community Christian Fellowship Church were dear to her.
Besides her husband, Claud, she is survived by three children and their spouses; Randall Gibbs of Tewksbury, Claudia M. Cook and her husband Thomas of Gardner, Samuel Gibbs and his wife Theresa (Diette) of Nashua, N.H., her brothers and sister-in-law; Buckshot Ham, Normy Ham, Lawrence Ham, Keith Ham and his wife Floy all of Springfield, ME, her sisters and brothers-in-law Joyce Tozier, Linda Doane and her husband Ron, Jean Sawtelle and her husband Hazen all of Springfield ME, Dot Comer of Patchogue, NY, five grandchildren; Erica Freguson and her husband Jim of Haverhill, Michael Gibbs of Rochester, NH, Victoria Gibbs of Dracut, Thomas Cook and his wife Lindsea of Templeton, Ryan Cook of Gardner, one great grandchild; Tanner James Cook of Templeton.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Gwendolyn Gibbs, in 1960.
Relatives and friends were received Friday, December 2, in the Tewksbury Funeral Home. Her Funeral Service immediately followed at 7:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
