Helen A. McGuire age 86 of Brockton, died Sunday November 27, 2011 at the Arbors in Stoughton after a brief illness. Helen was born in Brockton a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Nash) McGuire and remained a lifelong resident of the city. A 1943 graduate of Brockton High School she also attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston.
In 1985 Helen retired as human resource director at the New England Telephone Company after 30 years of service. Previously she had worked at Eastern Mass Railway. Helen enjoyed worldwide travel, gardening and reading. She was a former member of the Twentieth Century Catholic Club and bowled with their league at Maple Alleys. Helen was a lifelong parishioner at St. Colman Church and former member of the Ladies Sodality.
Helen is survived by two nieces Kate Brigden and Meghan Balbale, three nephews Richard Conway, Jr., Christopher Conway and Daniel Conway and several grandnieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Thursday at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass in Christ the King Church at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
