Obituary

Wayne T. McCabe, husband of Carol (Stott) McCabe died Sunday, November 27th at home. He was 69.

Born in Norwalk, CT, he was the son of the late Joseph and Cathryn (O’Neil) McCabe. Mr. McCabe managed the Tides Motor Inn in Provincetown for his parents, taking over ownership in 1980, and running it with his wife until his retirement in 1993. After retirement, he continued to manage several rental properties.

One of Wayne’s great passions was the restoration of classic autos, at which he spent many hours. He also enjoyed fishing from his boat, the Carol Ann, and hunting. But his greatest joy was family and friends. He and his wife could often be seen on warm summer nights walking along Commercial St in Provincetown greeting their many acquaintances. He also got great pleasure taking care of his cats.

Wayne was a volunteer firefighter with the Truro Fire Department for 43 years and a member of the Truro Police Auxiliary.

In addition to his wife of 47 years, daughters Karen McCabe and husband Jeffrey Holway, Susan McCabe and her husband Shawn Costa, as well as a grandson Christopher Costa, all of North Truro survive him. He also leaves a sister, Helen McCabe Fahey of Gloucester, a niece, Gillian Costello of Brooklyn, NY as well as several cousins.
