SHREWSBURY- Blanche R. Stringer, 98, of Shrewsbury Crossings, formerly of 33 Brandon Rd. and 4 Mayflower Circle, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Her husband of 40 years, Carl J. Stringer, died in 1962. She leaves a son, Carl J. Stringer and his wife Virginia of Norfolk, VA; a daughter, Paula J. Cooney of Worcester; seven grandchildren: Cynthia Perry of California, Stephanie Stringer of North Carolina, Amy Stringer of Vermont, Sarah Gutfreund of Ohio, Garrett Cooney and Megan Doherty of Worcester and Trevor Cooney of Cherry Hill, N.J.; and six great-grandchildren. A son, Paul Stringer, predeceased her.
Mrs. Stringer was born on March 17, 1905 in Burlington, VT. She moved to Worcester in 1926. She worked for Brinks Company in Worcester and the former R.H. Whites. She was also a secretary in the Medical Records office at Hahnemann Hospital and an assistant to the activities director at Knollwood Nursing Home. After retiring, she became a volunteer at Fallon Clinic for over 15 years, earning a 12,000 Hours Award at the age of 96. She was a member of St. Michael's-On-The-Heights Episcopal Church and The Wednesday Morning Group.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 15, 2004, at 11 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Hospice, 120 Thomas St, Worcester, MA 01608 or The Endowment Fund at St. Michaels's Church, 340 Burncoat St, Worcester, MA 01606.
