Barry J. Shea, 48, of Mansfield, passed away surrounded by his beloved family, on Monday November 28, 2011 at the Highgate Manor in Dedham.He was the former husband of Laurie Shea.
Born in Boston, MA on January 2, 1963, he was a loving son of Jeanne G. (Wright) Shea of Brighton and the late Joseph J. Shea.
Barry grew up in Malden, was educated in Malden parochial schools and was 1981 graduate of Malden Catholic High School, where in his senior year was captain of the football team. He continued his education and in 1985 received his degree in accounting from Babson College in Wellesley, where he also played on the lacrosse team.
A resident of Mansfield for over 15 years, Mr. Shea was a Certified Public Accountant and most recently worked as an internal auditor.
Along with his family, Barry had attended St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield. As a boy, he was active in scouting and in while in the eight grade, he proudly obtained the rank of Eagle Scout.
Barry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially with his children. He was an avid New England sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering on his favorite team, the New England Patriots.
In addition to his loving mother and former wife, he is survived by his devoted children Brianna M. Shea and Patrick J. Shea both of Mansfield. The dear brother of Brendan J. Shea and his wife Lori of Needham, Sister Patricia M. Shea, SND of Cambridge and Geraldine M. Shea of Quincy, he was also the adoring uncle of Ryan, Michaela and Meaghan Shea all of Needham.
His Funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday December 1st at 9:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday November 30th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Barry’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Shea Children’s Educational Fund, care of, Mansfield Bank, 80 North Main St., Mansfield, MA 02048.
