Obituary

In Taunton, November 25, 2011 William Thomas devoted husband of Olga (Walczak) Cooke died at Morton Hospital at the age of 88. Born in Virginia, William was the son of the late Arthur and Lena (Mcencrowe) Cooke. William was a graduate of Taunton High School class of 1942 then he joined the US Army during WWII serving under General Patton during The Battle of the Bulge. He worked as a Metallurgist at Texas Instruments in Attleboro and before that he worked at the Boston Naval Ship Yard and Watertown Arsenal. He was a member of the Taunton Lodge of Elk’s, John F. Parker Golf Course and enjoyed traveling, playing golf and spending summers in Shedaic, NB, Canada. William was the father of Patricia Houser and her husband Lawrence of Norton, Carol Costa and her husband John, Nancy Hegland and her husband James of FL and Timothy Cooke and his wife Joanne of West Virginia. Grandfather of six and great grandfather of one great granddaughter. Brother of Donald Cooke of RI, Joseph Charles Cooke of Whitman, Florence Mills of Ohio and the late James Cooke and Edith Benton. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton Wednesday, November 30th at 10 AM. A Mass will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Taunton at 11 AM. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
