Obituary

David H. Devine of Wayland formerly of Canton passed away November 25th at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham. He was 92. Born and raised in Boston. David attended Boston Schools and graduated from English High School. After High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in WWII. David then went on to continue his education and graduated from Bunker Hill Community College. David had a 32 year career with the MDC police where he retired as a Sergeant in 1982. Sgt. Devine was a member of the Retired Association of Metropolitan Police (RAMP). David loved gardening, working around his home and spending time with his family. Beloved husband of Barbara M. (Kelliher). Loving father of Sue Anne Redquest of Canton, Barbara Lyn Landgraf & her husband Brian of NH, Rosemary Devine & her husband Yanon of CA, Karen Cronin & her husband Dennis of Townsend, Janis Chantiles & her husband Peter of Sudbury, David Devine & his wife Wendy of Taunton, and Daniel Devine & his wife Michelle of CA. Brother of the late Joseph & Harold Devine, and Mary Ford. Also survived by his grandchildren James, Scott, Tammy, Keith, Danielle, Matthew, Colleen, Doron, Ryan, Jennifer, Alex, Dianne, David, Kelly, Chelsea, Michael, and Shayna and 10 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours in the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton, Thursday 4-8 pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend a funeral mass Friday morning at 10:30 at St. John the Evangelist Church 700 Washington St. Canton. Interment Mt. Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury. Army Veteran WWII. In lieu of flowers donations in David’s memory can be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor 186 Highland Ave. Somerville, MA 02143 or a charity of choice.
