Dorothy H. (Drury) Collins, 88, of Windham, NH died Thursday November 24, 2011 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH. Mrs. Collins was born in Lowell, MA on January 31, 1923 a daughter of the late James and Gertrude (Tryder) Drury. She was educated in Lowell, moving to Dracut, MA where she lived for many years. She and her late husband moved to E. Derry, NH during the 1960’s where they lived for many years. She and her husband also summered in Lake Sunapee for many years. Mrs. Collins was employed as a floral designer for Howard Johnson’s and was asked to run the Boston Flower Show during the 1950’s. She was a longtime member and past president of the Dracut Lady Lions Club. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, was an avid gardener and loved to read.
She is survived by her son, William Collins and his wife Margaret of Concord, NH, three daughters, Sandra Zankowski and her husband Michael of Weare, NH, Deborah Roscoe and her husband Thomas of Lutz, FL, and Donna Woodruff of Chili, NY, her daughter-in-law, Denise Collins of Bradford, MA, 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild, her longtime friend, Faustina Wood of Pelham, NH, also many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard F. Collins in 2010 and by her son, Robert Collins in 2004.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, graveside services will be held in the Spring at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Lowell, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, NH Office, 5 Bedford Farms Dr., Suite 201, Bedford, NH 03110.
