James M. Bass, 79, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at the Osceola Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, November 26, at Pinetta Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Barton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 PM, Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Bass was born November 4, 1932 in Tift County, GA to the late Monroe and Janie Grimes Bass. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service to his country. His military service included time in the U.S. Army. After he retired from the military he was a manager for Dixie Oil Company, in Tifton and was a former employee of the Tifton Cotton Mill. He moved to the Pleasure Lake Community of Irwin County in 1989 and attended Pinetta Baptist Church. Mr. Bass had been Ordained as a Minister.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois Harp Bass of Irwin County; daughter and son-in-law, Terri & Jeff Brinson of Ochlocknee and son-in-law, Larry G. Busbin of Irwin County; grandchildren, Patrick Patterson, Jason & Kelli Patterson, Jeffrey & Tina Brinson, and De & Kathy Busbin, great grandchildren, Robbie Patterson, Garrett Patterson and Kelsey Brinson. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Vera Busbin and a grandson, Todd Busbin.
