Alfred Motta, 89, of Dartmouth died Wednesday November 23, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Constance "Connie" (Pacheco) Motta.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel and Maria (Campos) Motta, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, where he served as a collector for many years.
Mr. Motta was formerly employed as a grocery manager for Stop & Shop until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his son, Paul B. Motta of Dartmouth; a brother, Charles Motta of Dartmouth; a sister, Evelyn Lavimoniere of New Bedford; and nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Manuel Motta, Nora Moreira and Maria Motta.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
