Obituary

Attorney Raymond A. Letourneau, 81, of Fairhaven died Monday November 21, 2011 peacefully at home. He was the beloved husband of Missy (Hall) Letourneau.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Hermenegilde and Emma (Tetreault) Letourneau, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life before moving to Fairhaven 12 years ago.

Mr. Letourneau maintained his own law practice in New Bedford for many years before retiring in 2009. He also served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bristol County from 1974-1978.

He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Class of 1950 and UMass Amherst, Class of 1954. He attended graduate school at Syracuse University in 1957 and graduated from Boston College Law School in 1961.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He was a former member of the New Bedford School Committee.

Survivors include his beloved wife; his loving children, Mark P. Letourneau and his wife Michele of Rochester, and Nicole A. Traubel and her husband Will of Dartmouth; a brother, Moe Letourneau of Nokomis, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Lucille Ehling and Paul Letourneau.

His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday May 12, 2012 at 11 AM at St. Anthony's Church, Mattapoisett. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Children's Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115, or Community Nurse and Hospice Care, P.O. Box 751, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
