Margie Bishop, age 87, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Bishop was the daughter of Mary Mae and John Fletcher. She was born on October 3, 1924 and was a native of Tifton, GA. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Douglas where she was active for many years, having served as President of WSCS , Sunday School teacher and the Official Board. She loved flowers and was an enthusiastic member of the Green Thumb Garden Club of Douglas for many year, having served as President. Her life was centered in her family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Craig Hutto officiating. Burial will follow in the Douglas City Cemetery.
Survivors include: husband: Carl E. Bishop, Douglas, GA; daughter: Mary Veal of Romania, three granddaughters: Holly Voinescu, Rose Veal and Laura Veal; two great granddaughters: Lucy Frier and Molly Frier; sister: Geraldine Pressley, Hartsville, SC; nieces: Jane Terwillger and Ann Corley of Columbia, SC; great nephew: Roy Morrow of Columbia, SC.
