Frances Taylor Goolsby, 91, of Fitzgerald, died Sunday, November 20, 2011, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, November 25, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Woeltjen and the Rev. B.J. Funk officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Goolsby was born June 3, 1920 in Elbert County, Georgia to the late Steven O. and Bessie Turner Taylor. She graduated from Rabun Gap High School and Rabun Gap Junior College. Mrs. Goolsby was a homemaker, a former window decorator and designer at Four Seasons Dress Shop in Valdosta and former director of Quality Control at Flowers Bakery in Thomasville. While living in Fitzgerald, she worked for the Ben Hill County Voters Registration, was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Magnolia Garden Club where she won many awards in flower arranging.
She is survived by her husband of seventy years, J. Foster Goolsby of Fitzgerald; daughter, Susan Marie Goolsby Wingate of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Leisa Jones of Camilla, Michael Wingate of Fitzgerald and Derrick Goolsby of Atlanta; brother, John Henry Taylor of Atlanta and a sister, Elizabeth Poole of Doraville. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Goolsby and one sister, Tommie Lee Gaines.
