Gordon C. “Duke” Dutra, 84, of So.Yarmouth died Wednesday November 16, 2011 at Epoch Health Care in Harwich. He is the husband of Geraldine J. (Ghimussi) Dutra. Mr. Dutra lived in Wellfleet before moving to So. Yarmouth in 1999. Born in Provincetown, he was the son of the late John and Helen L. (Chase) Dutra. He and his wife were married on October 18, 1948. He was a former foreman for the Truro Department of Public Works. In the 1950s he worked at Art's Dune Tours and Duarte Motors in Provincetown. He and his wife moved from Provincetown in 1957. He was a long time member of St. Pius X Parish in Yarmouth. Besides his wife he is survived by his three children, Anne M. Dutra and her partner Johnny Sawyer of South Dennis, Walter Dutra and his wife Gayle of Goodyear, AZ and Diane M. Holston and her husband John of Athol, MA, 2 nephews William Fields and Michael Souza and one niece Kathy Leonard. He also had a sister Muriel who died several years ago.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Peter the Apostle Church 11 Prince St. Provincetown on Monday November 21 at 11:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family at the Gately-McHoul Funeral Home 94 Harry Kemp Way Provincetown on Monday prior to the Mass from 9:45-10:45.
