Obituary

WORCESTER--Carl Harry Linderholm, of 50 Cedar St., passed away while in his sleep on March 3rd, 2004 at the age of 95.

He was born in Worcester on August 14, 1908 to Erik and Hildur Linderholm. He was educated in the Worcester schools. Mr. Linderholm, as a young man, was a carpet weaver for M. J. Whittalls, a stationary engineer at the American Steel & Wire Company, south works subsidiary of the United Steel Corporation. He was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves and was called to active duty in 1941. He served in the Pacific and Atlantic arenas during World War II. He was discharged honorably as a disabled veteran.

In 1945, Mr. Linderholm joined the merchant marines and served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He became a chief engineer for Moore McCormack Lines and retired after 33 years of service.

He was a member of Epworth Methodist Church and the American Legion, Old Ironside Post 423, and the Greendale Retired Mens Club.

Mr. Linderholm was married for 40 years to Toini (Bruun) Linderholm who passed away in 1992. He is survived by his five children; two daughters, Anna Maria A. Lochiatto of Newton, MA and Erica H. Linderholm of New York, NY, and three sons, Carl W., Eric L. and Lars H. Linderholm, all of Worcester, MA, as well as two grandchildren and two nieces.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery.There are no calling hours. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Epworth Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 64 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.
