Mr. Richard J. Hogan, age 81, a resident of Wilmington for nearly 55 years, passed away peacefully following a short illness on November 18th, at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Marion C. (Curley) who passed in 1998. Born in Medford he was one of two sons of the late Joseph S. and Mildred (Smith) Hogan.
Mr. Hogan was raised and educated in Medford. Shortly after graduating from High School he enlisted in the United States Air Force and honorably served for three years during the Korean War. Upon his return home from the service he was introduced by a family member to a beautiful young lady, Marion C. Curley. The young couple started dating and was married in 1956. They eventually settled in Wilmington where they started their family, together raising three daughters. Mr. Hogan worked for many years as an airplane mechanic for Eastern Airlines retiring 19 years ago. Mr. Hogan and his family enjoyed spending time at his second home in Dennis where they made many wonderful memories. He also enjoyed woodworking and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Nothing gave him more pleasure than his grandchildren. He cherished spending time with them and was extremely proud of their many achievements.
Mr. Hogan is survived by his daughters, Jean Foley of Tyngsboro, Joanne Hall and her husband Lawrence, Gail Buckler and her husband Donald, all of Billerica. He was the loving Papa of Tammy Warner and Nicole Foley of Tyngsboro, Dennis Hall and Kaitlyn Hall of Billerica. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, the late Sydney Hogan.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., Wilmington, Monday, November 21st, at 9 a.m. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Dorothy Church, Main St., Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
