Obituary

Primo Bastoni, 98,of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 15th after a short illness. Born on October 7, 1913 in Gatteo, Italy, he was the oldest child of the late Adele (Gallassi) and Guisseppe Bastoni. He came to America with his mother when he was eighteen months old, coming through Ellis Island to Plymouth, MA. He attended Plymouth Schools and played the violin in the Hedge School Band. He had to leave school at the age of 13 to help support his younger brothers and sisters, and worked at several local textile mills as a weaver. He served over seas in WWII in Iraq and Egypt and was honorably discharged after the war. Back in Plymouth he met his future wife of 63 years, Anna Munch, and they were married in 1948. They went on to have 3 sons, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Primo loved Big Band music, Jazz, dancing, fishing, playing pool, horse and dog racing, and watching the Red Sox and Celtics. Besides his loving wife Anna, he is survived by eight brothers and sisters; Mary Ragazzini, Irma Brenner, Dorothy Zagari, Inez Robare, Geraldine Bertocchi, and Angelo, Alfred, and Gerald Bastoni. He was predeceased by his sisters , Josephine Weber and Clara Wood. He also leaves his three sons: Russell of Plymouth, Richard and his wife Debbie of Plymouth and Robert and his companion Colleen Medwid of Dedham, MA and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 21st at 10 o’clock at St. Mary’s Church in Plymouth. Visitation will be held prior to the mass at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, N. Plymouth from 9:00– 9:45 AM. Burial at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Plymouth.
