WORCESTER-Antonio V. “Tony” Savino, 28, of Worcester, passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side Sunday, November 13th after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. He leaves his parents, Joseph R. Savino and Regina M. Siemaszko of Worcester; his uncles and aunts, Richard and Diane Siemaszko of Holden and Alan and Laura Adams of Tarpon Springs, FL; cousins and many close friends. He also leaves behind his two dogs, Carma and Nakita and his cat, Saber.
He was born in Worcester and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School and attended the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont. Tony was currently a chef at the Briarwood Community, and previously worked at WPI, One Eleven Chophouse, and was the executive chef at the former Opia 1541, which he owned and operated with his father.
Tony’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to his family and friends for their kindness and support, especially Dr. Vijay Kasturi and the staff at UMass-Memorial Hospital, 6 ICU and UMass-Memorial Hospice for their compassion and care during Tony’s illness.
Calling hours are Saturday, November 19th from 1:00 until 3:30 P.M. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. His funeral service will be held at 3:30 P.M. in the funeral home. The family requests that flowers be omitted and donations be made to UMass Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605 or to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
