Thomas J. McNicholas, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 47 years old.
Tom was born in Boston to Thomas J. McNicholas Sr. and Margeret M. (Shea) McNicholas. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools and then graduated from Boston College High School in 1982. Tom recieved his Bachelor of Science Degree in English from The University of Massachusetts in 1987. Tom had been working as the Assistant Supervisor of Student Housing For Boston University for the last 15 years until his declining health forced him to abondon his position.
Tom is the beloved son of Thomas J. McNicholas Sr. and Margaret M. (Shea) McNicholas. He is the devoted brother of Nancy Kelly and her husband Kieran of Charlestown, Geraldine Murphy and her husband Steven of Charlestown and William McNicholas and his wife Agatha of Charlestown. He is the loving uncle to Diana and Kieran Kelly and Colin Murphy. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Tom's Funeral on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester. Visiting hours in the funeral home will be on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m.
