Obituary

WEBSTER - Helen B. (Janakowski) Szymczak, 93, of Webster, died Saturday, November 12, 2011 in Kindred Hospital, Leicester after a short illness. Her husband of 70 years, Anthony E. Szymczak, died March 19.

She leaves 2 sons, Charles A. “Chuck” Szymczak and his wife Jo-Ann of Dudley and John B. Szymczak of Webster; 2 grandsons, Scott and Michael Szymczak; a sister, Irene Wisniewski of San Clemente, CA; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Janakowski.

She was born in Webster, the daughter of Thomas and Victoria (Jankot) Janakowski and was a lifelong resident.

Mrs. Szymczak first worked as a fancy stitcher at Webster Shoe Company. She then was a percher at Stevens Linen Associates in Dudley and at Anglo Fabrics Company in Webster before retiring in 1980.

She was a communicant of Saint Joseph Basilica and a member of its Holy Rosary Sodality.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, November 19, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. A calling period will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 AM Wednesday, November 16, in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to either the Friends of St. Joseph School Fund, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster, MA 01570 or to the Felician Sisters.
