Obituary

Pasquale “Pat” DeAcetis, a retired contractor, died Friday afternoon at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital after a brief illness. He was 89.

Born and raised in Abruzzi, Italy Pat came to the United States in 1935 and lived in Boston’s North End until settling in Medford in 1955. He first worked in the Hingham Ship Yard until founding his own construction firm, Cousins Construction Company. He quickly grew his firm and soon won contracts for major construction projects throughout the Boston area and New Hampshire. He also successfully earned some significant federal projects. Although a hard worker and successful businessman, Pat’s family came first. He enjoyed family trips and cruises with his wife Bambina. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed the company of his friends and family.

The beloved husband of Bambina (DeSantis) DeAcetis he was a devoted father to Mary Bellia and her husband Gino of Middleton, Anna Pons and her husband Carlos of Yarmouthport, Diane Bachiri and her husband Mohamed of Melrose. He leaves his loving grandchildren: Gino Bellia, Lisa Sedleski, Cris, Tony and Natalie Pons; Samir, Nadia and Zack Bachiri. He was a loving great-grandfather to Matthew Sedleski and a dear brother to Dora DiCenso of Tewksbury, Gino DeAcetis of Hanover the late Nevina DiCenso and Algisa Quaraglia.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday, November 15th at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
