Dorothy F. "Dotty" (Cotter) Greatorex, a resident of Everett for 11 years and former longtime resident of Charlestown, died on Friday, November 11, 2011 unexpectedly at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 69 years old.
Dotty was born in Boston and raised by William and Dorothy Keniston and Margaret O'Callahan. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1960. Dotty furthered her education and recieved her degree in Early Childhood Psychology from Wheelock College in Boston. She loved her work at the Charlestown Head Start Program. Dotty was often quoted as preaching that her most rewarding career in her life was being a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.
Dotty is the beloved wife of 51 years to James "Froggy" Greatorex. She is the devoted mother of James "Jimbo" Greatorex and his wife Michelle, John "Jacko" Greatorex and his wife Sandra, Paula Zoukhri and her husband Noureddine and the late Karen and Dorothy Greatorex. She is the loving grandmother of Casey Dolaher, Matthew, Jaime and Emma Rose Greatorex and great-grandmother of Avery Libby. She is the devoted sister of Jack O'Callahan, Mary Lacey, William Keniston, Peggy O'Brien and the late Margaret Mullen, James O'Callahan, Cornelius O'Callahan and William O'Callahan. She is the loving friend of Paul "Devil" Mahoney. She is the loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dotty's Funeral on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Cremation will follow her funeral mass. Visiting hours will be in the funeral home on Monday, November 14, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m.
