TAUNTON – Rose (Semas) Layton, 77, died unexpectedly at her Taunton home on Nov. 7, 2011.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Rosalena (Perry) Semas.
Raised and educated in Taunton, Mrs. Layton resided in Norton from 1954 until 1978, when she moved back to Taunton.
A longtime employee of the former Paul Dever School, Mrs. Layton retired many years ago.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna M. Welch and her husband Stephen of Attleboro, and Deborah A. Surprise and husband Scott of Houston, TX; a sister, Elva Mattos of Hudson; two grandchildren, Robin and Nathan Surprise, both of Houston, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her twin brother, John F. Semas, Jr.
She was also the sister of the late Leonard, Charles, Edward, and Anthony Semas, Louise Laninfa, Helen Silveira, Lena Neville, Mary Souza, Bella Nascimento, Margaret Silveira, Evelyn Grenier, Lorraine Foley, and Loretta Belmont.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, Nov. 11th at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 10th from 5 to 8 p.m.
