Mr. Alexander F. “Sonny” Buccieri, age 76, of Medford passed away on November 8, 2011 after a long illness at Glen Ridge Nursing Center, Medford. He was the beloved husband of Rose Marie (Vacca) Buccieri and together they shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Boston he was the son of Angelina (Pio) Buccieri and the late Anthony Buccieri.
He was affectionately known as "Sonny the Baker”. He was a retired “scratch baker”. He learned his bread-making career at an early age, with is father and brothers at A. Buccieri and Sons Bakery of the North End, Boston. In later years he worked as a head baker for Brandano’s Bakery of Revere, LaCascia’s Bakery of Medford, Bova’s Bakery and Parziale’s Bakery of the North End.
Sonny enjoyed cooking and baking for the family. His greatest joy came from spending time with the family and his loving grandchildren, whom he cherished and was so proud of.
Sonny is survived by his wife Rose Marie, children Michele McCole and her husband Brian of Malden, Leanne Foti and her husband Joseph of North Reading. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer Khodush, Heather Koufos, Meghan McCole, Marissa Foti and great-grandson Cameron Khodush. He is survived by his sister Anne Marie Arsenault. He was predeceased by his brothers James, John, Anthony and sister Josephine.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford Monday November 14th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
