PEABODY - Margaret H. (Soboczinski) Conlin, 95, of Peabody, wife of the late Joseph D. Conlin, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 9, 2011 following a short illness.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Boleslaw and Helen (Stramski) Soboczinski
Margaret was employed for over 35 years as a telephone operator for New England Telephone & Telegraph. She started her career on Central Street, Peabody, then worked in offices in Salem, Marblehead and Lynn before returning to Peabody where she worked until her retirement in the early 1980's. She also assisted her sister Violet at the Bowditch House, located in Wilson Square.
Active in her community, she was a communicant of the former St. Joseph Church and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality, She was also a member of the Daughters of St. Joseph, the United Polish Organizations, both of Peabody, the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW, #1524 in Salem, and the Telephone Pioneers. She was currently a communicant of the St. John The Baptist Church, Salem.
The last of five siblings, she is survived by nieces, Dorothy Mavroules of Middleton, Helen and her husband Barry Anasoulis of Summerfield, FL, Carol Soboczinski of Saugus, Barbara and her husband Nick Zakas of Essex, nephew, Chester and his wife Jan Spychalski of Bermuda Run, NC, and several grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Violet H. Kons, Genevieve Spychalski, Jane V. Wisniewski, Edwin B. Soboczinski, and one nephew, William Bridge.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the St. John The Baptist Church, 28 St. Peter St., Salem. Visiting hours are Friday. from 5 to 8 pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
