Margaret C. (Madden) MacLeod, 94 of Londonderry, NH died Tuesday November 8, 2011, surrounded by her family at Elliot Hospital of Manchester, NH following a brief illness. She was born on December 29, 1916 in Derry, NH, and was a daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Sullivan) Cooper. She was raised and educated in Derry, and was a longtime resident of Londonderry, NH.
Margaret was one of twelve brothers and sisters. She worked at the Manchester Knitting Mill before retiring in 1976. She enjoyed roller skating, watching Lifetime Television, baking, shopping, going out to eat and relaxing outside in the sunlight. She also enjoyed living with her family, especially time spent with her many grandchildren.
Members of the family include her son, John P. Madden and his wife Susan of Litchfield, NH, two daughters Nancy Jervah and her husband Harold of Derry, and Cordelia Macleod of Hooksett, NH, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren, three brothers, Charles and William Cooper, both of Derry, and Leon Cooper of Fernald, WA., a sister, Irene Callahan of Dover, NH, one special niece and best friend, Shirley Thompson of Londonderry, as well as several other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Macleod was predeceased by her husband Laurence MacLeod in 1984, her first husband John Madden in 2007 and by her daughter, Joanne Fitzgerald in 2003.
Following cremation, a calling hour was held on Saturday November 12th from 1:00 to 2:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A memorial service followed at 2:00pm in the funeral home. The burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Londonderry.
