Steve “Quail Man” Goodman, 45, of Fitzgerald, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 2 P.M. Friday, November 11, 2011, at Big Creek Cemetery with Deacon Skip Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Steve was born September 12, 1966 in Fitzgerald to the late Lamar Q. Goodman and the late Marjorie Dorminy Goodman. He lived in Fitzgerald most of his life and attended technical school in Florida receiving a degree in Heating & Air Conditioning. Steve was a welder, having worked for Haulmark, the Marine Corps Logistics Base and Fitzgerald Railcar. He was a former manager for Quail Plantation and Campbell Farms and a former employee of Winn Electric. He loved to fish and camp and was a member of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his companion of twenty years, Julia “Alice” Cummings of Fitzgerald; stepchildren, Robert Lee Cummings and John Tyrel Cummings, both of Fitzgerald and Jennifer LeAnne Cummings of Americus; grandchild, Aden Cummings; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry & Missy Goodman of Welaka, FL, John & Laura Goodman of Fitzgerald, J.R. & Darlene Goodman of Albany, Billy & Roxie Goodman of Fitzgerald and Allen Goodman of Albany as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfathers, Bill Matheny and Charles Mixon.
