HAVERHILL: Irene H. (Ely) Gigliotti, 59, died unexpectedly in the Merrimack Valley Hospital on November 3, 2011.
Born in Haverhill on February 12, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Irene (DesJardins) Ely.
A lifelong resident of Haverhill, Irene was known as a consumate homemaker. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially Yahtzee. She liked camping and being in the outdoors. Irene will most be remembered for being a person who loved to be around people, but most of all children.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith A. Budlong of Haverhill; two granddaughters, LeTecia and Laura Torres both of Haverhill; two sisters, Marie R. Blazonis of Exeter, NH and Phoebe Ponzo of Haverhill; two brothers, Wayne VonKannell and Arnold Ely both of Haverhill; her foster brother, David Parsley of Haverhill; a son-in-law, Carlos Torres of Haverhill. She was also predeceased by her two daughters, Evelina Simpson and Lydia Gigliotti.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill at 7 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 5 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friend are cordially invited to attend.
