Boylston - George A. Stowe, 72, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus. He was born in Worcester, son of Florence (Tiemeyer) and Robert S. Stowe, Sr., and was a graduate of North High School. George owned and operated Stowe Construction in Boylston since 1961, recently celebrating 50 years in business. He was a member of First Congregational Church of Boylston. George was a former firefighter and EMT for Boylston and member of the National Guard. He was a member of Guiding Lights Lodge A.F. & A.M. and Boylston Grange. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and farming.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Carolyn C. (Nelson) Stowe; 1 daughter, Georgianna Desaultels, and 2 sons, Richard Stowe and Neal Stowe and his wife Christine, all of Boylston. He also leaves 3 brothers, Robert Jr., Peter, and Thomas Stowe; 7 grandchildren, Derek, Samuel, Devin, Morgan, Ava, Dale, and Alexandra; and his cat, Dusty.
Calling hours at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester will be held Thursday, Nov. 10, from 4-8 p.m. The funeral service at Boylston Congregational Church, 10 Church St., will be held Friday, Nov. 11, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boylston Firefighters Assn., P.O. Box 634, Boylston, MA 01505 or the Boylston Congregational Church.
