Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Karen J. (Larsen) Selig, 58, died unexpectedly Sunday, November 6, 2011 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Glenn S. Selig.
Born in Gloucester on May 11, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Albert C. and Bertha E. (Mattson) Larsen. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, she was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1971.
Karen was employed for the Gloucester Times and Salem Evening News for forty years. She loved spending time around her pool during the summer. She always looked forward to Saturday nights with her cousin, Franny and weekend breakfast with the girls.
In addition to her husband of thirty-six years, she is survived by her loving daughter, Alyssa K. Selig of Gloucester; a brother, Chris and his wife, Joan Larsen of Gloucester; mother-in-law, Gerry Selig of Gloucester; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Phelan and Robbin and her husband, Tim Sova all of Gloucester; her beloved golden retriever “Jake” and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her sister, Maryann Kerepka.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Barton Center for Diabetes Education, 30 Ennis Rd., P.O. Box 356, North Oxford, MA 01537.
