Salem, NH – Anne T. (Matuk) Porada, 91, died Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Salemhaven Nursing Home in Salem, NH with her loving family by her side.
Anne was born in Lawrence, the daughter of the late Simon and Josephine (Bousz) Matuk. She was educated in Holy Trinity School and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1939.
Anne was a longtime resident of Methuen. She was a homemaker and was most happy spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were the joy of her world and her family was most important to her. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, and gardening. On most days, you would see her working outside in her garden. She had a special love for African Violets and her house was adorned with these beautiful plants. She took great pride in her yard, especially her flower and vegetable gardens. Her garden contained hundreds of different species of plants, vegetables, and fruits.
Anne lived a fulfilled life with her husband of 53 years, who passed away in 2000. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Church for most of her life until its closing. She then attended St. Monica’s Church. She was a member of the National Gardening Club and a promoter for the Marionist Missions.
She will live forever in the hearts and minds of her grief stricken family. She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Porada and her loving daughter, Irene, who died as an infant. She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy and her loving son-in-law Dennis Hayden; a son, Thomas, and her loving daughter-in-law, Jane Porada; and a daughter, Janet, and her loving son-in-law Paul McKallagat; her grandchildren, which include Corissa, Brittany, Jarret, and Braden; and a dear niece, Carolyn Mailhot.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock in Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Lawrence.
Friends will be warmly received on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen, MA.
