Ludell Merritt Christian, 99, of Broxton, GA passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Christian was born in Broxton, GA on April 1, 1912 to the late Leonard and Eliza Smith Merritt. She was preceded in death by her husband: Israel Christian and a grandson: Neal Deen. She was a homemaker and a member of the Reedy Branch Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with interment following in the Reedy Branch Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Christian is survived by sons: Ralph (Ruth) Christian, Tommy Jack (Linda) Christian, Alvin Christian and Richard Christian all of Broxton, GA; daughters: Lula Mae Deen, Brunswick, GA, Lucy Keene, Jacksonville, FL, Gennell (Rev. Raymond) Hand, Savannah, GA, Sue Wooten, Brunswick, GA, Carolyn Christian, Artsia, NM and Linda (Jerry) Jackson, Lawrenceville, GA; sister: Irene Christian, Douglas, GA; 21 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 6, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
