GLOUCESTER: Roger W. DiMambro, 63, died unexpectedly Thursday, November 3, 2011 in the Beverly Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Michele (Pimentel) DiMambro.
Born in Salem on December 28, 1947, he was the son of Cecile (Charette) DiMambro of Salem and the late Roger DiMambro. He had resided in Salem for many years before moving to Gloucester in 1982. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he served on the nuclear submarine “Robert E. Lee.”
Roger was employed in plant maintenance at the General Electric Company, River Works Plant in Lynn for over twenty-five years before his retirement. He held a State of Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License. He also enjoyed wildlife wood carving, where he competed and received numerous awards.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Barbara DiMambro of Beverly; his mother-in-law, Norma Pimentel and her longtime companion, John Matheson of Gloucester and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his sister, Marie Godfrey.
His funeral service will be held on Monday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd., Kanab, Utah 84741.
