Laconia, NH. – Eugene F. “Mac” McEvoy, 69, died November 2, 2011 at the Laconia Center – Genesis Healthcare in Laconia, NH, with his loving family by his side.
A former resident of Methuen, Gene was born October 28, 1942 the son of Arthur F. and Genevieve F. (Kvadaravicius) McEvoy.
For over 20 years he had been employed as a maintenance engineer at Amtrak Railroad before his retirement. He was educated in the Methuen School system and graduated from Tenney High School. He studied power plant mechanics and used his skills to help many friends and neighbors.
Gene was a member of Howard Associates in Lawrence. He had a love for all animals and enjoyed sailing and visiting the coffee shop to keep up with his friends. He spent a great deal of time helping those people that he felt needed some assistance, including the residents of the Middle Eastern Monastery within the Searles Estate.
He is survived by his loving former wife, Yvonne McEvoy; a daughter, Dina Donohue, and her husband Shaun of Meredith, NH; a brother, Arthur McEvoy, and his wife Martha of Portland, ME; a grandson, Jared Donohue; a granddaughter, Jordan Donohue; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be warmly received on Monday from 9-10 a.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
At the request of the family, funeral services will be private.
