Obituary

WORCESTER-Francis X. Desautels, 86, of Worcester, died Monday, October 31st in St. Vincent Hospital. His beloved wife and best friend of 33 years, Theresa L. (Rondeau) Desautels died in January. He leaves a son, Francis X. Desautels III and his wife Linda of Thompson, CT; two daughters, Sandra Rivernider and her husband Gerald of TN and Pearl Desautels of Medford; a step-daughter, Pamela Rossetti and her husband John of Worcester; two step-sons, Stephen P. Jurgiel and his wife Diane and Gregory R. Jurgiel III, all of Worcester; family friends, Colleen and Bob Watkins of Ocala, FL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Desautels.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Francis X. and Mary (Devine) Desautels and lived in South Grafton for many years, where he was a former member of St. James Church. He worked at Holbrook Drop Forge for many years, retiring in 1987 and had also owned a cleaning company. Mr. Desautels was an extremely hard worker, and worked well into his 70’s, even riding his bike to work. He was a devoted family man and was always there for people that needed him. Francis will always be remembered for his sense of humor.

A calling hour will be held Friday, November 4th from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
