TEWKSBURY - Edward D. "Ed" Brown, age 74, a Veteran and retired pipefitter and welder, died Monday, October 31, at the Boston Medical Center, from heart complications. He was the beloved husband of Rose M. (Balogna) Brown, with whom he had celebrated a 52nd wedding anniversary this past April 5th.
Ed was born in Chelsea, April 12, 1937, the youngest of twelve children of the late George Arthur and Jessie (Pearce) Brown. He was raised in Chelsea, and graduated from the Everett Vocational High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, and served stateside during the early years of the Vietnam War.
Upon honorable discharge, he began work as a welder and pipefitter in the oil supply industry. He worked for the Janus Incorporated for most of his career, and spent extended periods of time throughout the North East and the U.S. at various oil farms and oil supply depots.
He was a member of the Everett-Saugus B.P.O. Elks Lodge 32 in Saugus.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Edward A. Brown and his partner, Christopher Hoffman of Cornville, ME, Christine M. Dushanek and her husband Rich of Shirley, MA, Ryan M. Brown and his spouse Wendy Perez of Boston's South End; two brothers, Arthur R. "Bob" Brown, and his wife Jeanette of Jacksonville, FL, Vernon M. "Mack" Brown and his wife Patricia of Albuquerque, NM; a brother-in-law, Joseph P. Martinello and his wife Maureen of Stoneham; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service was held Friday November 4, in the funeral home. Burial with Army Honors followed in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
