Irene V. (McCarthy) Gagne, 84, died October 30, 2011 at Ashland Farms Assisted Living facility in North Andover, Massachusetts.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Florence and Josephine (Mahoney) McCarthy.
Mrs. Gagne was a 1945 graduate of Lawrence High School. For more than 42 years Irene was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Social Worker. Irene enjoyed helping and meeting people, discussing and reading current events, and was the consummate mother/ grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years; Alfred J. “Sonny” Gagne, sons Mark and his wife Julie and their children Mia and Ava Gagne of Rye, NH, Richard Gagne of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and his children Nicola and Alec J. Gagne, and Charles Gagne of Arlington, Texas and his children Kathryn and Dylan Gagne.
Mrs. Gagne was predeceased by her sister Agnes Foley and brother Francis McCarthy.
Irene’s family would like to thank the staff at Ashland Farm for their loving care they gave her.
A Funeral Service will take place Thursday morning November 3, at 10 a.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen, Ma. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery of Lawrence.
Friends will be warmly received on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
